The pattern is the whole table

There is no hardware on the Bloc, no contrast base, no detail to notice. Just a warm burl figure running across the top and straight down all four legs, so the piece reads as one continuous block of pattern. It is the rare coffee table that works as the thing you actually look at.

Four fat corner legs, and nothing else

No spindly metal, no floating cantilever, no glass corner at toddler eye level. Thick rounded posts at each corner carry the top with a shadow gap underneath that keeps 43.5 inches of square from looking heavy. If somebody clips it in the dark, the worst outcome is a slightly moved table.

Square beats rectangle in a square room

A rectangle forces a direction. A square does not — it works with an L-shaped sectional, two facing sofas, or a sofa and two chairs, without anyone having to turn it around. At 43.5 inches across it is in reach from every seat, and at 14 inches high it stays under the cushion line.

The honest bit about the finish

This is a burl-figured surface over an engineered core, not a solid burl slab — and we would rather tell you than have you find out. What it buys you is a pattern that stays consistent, a top that will not check or split in island humidity the way a real burl slab can, and a table you can put a glass down on. Dust it dry, wipe marks with a barely damp cloth, use coasters.

Why we called it the Bloc

Because it is one block — one pattern, one mass, no seams to notice. Pick it if your room is quiet and needs a centrepiece, or if everything you own is plain and you want exactly one thing with a bit of noise in it.
