Day to day: Dust with a dry cloth, or wipe with a barely damp one and dry straight away. Do not leave water standing on the top.

Heat and wet: Mats under hot dishes, coasters under cold glasses. Solid wood rings and scorches like any other timber — the advantage is that light marks can be sanded and refinished.

Humidity: Keep it indoors and out of a direct draught from an air conditioner. Solid tops move when one face dries faster than the other.

The Kailua Dining Bench is built on the same curved slab legs and tucks completely beneath the top, which gives you back a walkway when the table is not in use. Chairs on one side, bench on the other, and the room goes from seating six to seating four in a second.
