The wood: Dust with a dry cloth, or wipe with a barely damp one and dry straight away. Do not leave water standing on the top.

The mirror: A soft cloth with glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, never directly onto the mirror — liquid running into the frame will damage the LED wiring over time.

The stool: Blot spills, do not rub. Vacuum the seat occasionally.

Avoid: Long direct sunlight, which will lighten the finish unevenly, and abrasive pads, which will scratch it.

Flip the panel down and this is a desk — a clean run of rubberwood with nothing on it. Flip it up and the LED mirror is there, lit and ready, with your whole kit laid out in the tray underneath. Getting ready stops taking over the bedroom, because the bedroom stops looking like a vanity the second you are done.

Everything has a slot, so nothing has a pile

Under the lift-up top is a divided tray — small squares for the little things that always roll away, longer bays for brushes. Two drawers underneath take everything that does not need to be on show. The stool tucks all the way in, so the whole thing gives you back its floor space when you walk away.

Solid rubberwood, not a laminate box

The frame, legs and top are real rubberwood, so a knock leaves a mark you can sand rather than a chip you cannot fix. It handles Hawaii humidity better than the particleboard vanities that dominate this size and price. Spilled foundation wipes off the finish.

Only 15.75 inches deep
