The upholstery: Vacuum with the upholstery head. Blot spills straight away with a clean cloth — press, do not rub, because rubbing pushes a stain into a textured weave and lifts the slubs.

The wood: Dust dry, or wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately.

After a month: Re-tighten the leg bolts once.

Honest limit: This is a fabric chair. If your table is where small children eat, put the Nalu on that side and keep these for the ends.

Rubberwood is a natural material — grain, knots and colour vary from chair to chair. The upholstery is a textured weave, so slub pattern varies across the roll and between the two chairs in your set; colour can read warmer or cooler in your room than on screen.

A cushion floating where a backrest should be

The back of this chair is a bolster — a fat upholstered roll held up on a single post, sitting just clear of the seat. It catches you across the lower back rather than flat against the shoulders, which is a more comfortable place to be caught, and it leaves a gap you can see the room through.

Thick legs, on purpose

Everything else in this range is trying to look slim. The Pua is doing the opposite — heavy square-section legs, squared shoulders, deliberately chunky. Put one at the end of a fine-legged table and it stops being a set of chairs and starts being a composition.

Textured weave, not flat fabric

The seat and bolster are upholstered in a nubby textured cloth with slubs and colour variation running through it, so it never reads as a plain block of colour. That texture also hides everyday marks far better than a smooth weave does — though unlike our faux-leather chairs, this one wants blotting rather than wiping.

Two is usually the right number

Sold as a pair. A full set of six is a lot of chair for one room — most people run two of these with four plainer ones, or use them at a desk and a dressing table where a sculptural chair earns its keep. Ships flat-packed.
