Surface and Finish: Walnut veneer
Day to day: Dust with a dry cloth, or wipe with a barely damp one and dry straight away. Do not leave water standing on a veneer top.

Heat and wet: Coasters under glasses, mats under anything warm. A veneer top rings and scorches, and neither mark sands out.

Drawers: If one sticks in humid weather, rub a candle stub or a bar of soap along the runners.

Moving it: Empty the drawers first and lift from the base with two people. Do not drag it loaded.

Avoid: Abrasive pads, scouring powders and long direct sunlight.

Walnut veneer grain and colour vary from piece to piece, and the eight drawer fronts within one chest will not be identical to each other. That is the wood, not a fault. This is a veneer surface over an MDF core, not solid walnut.

Eight drawers, and the top still clears at 35 inches

Two columns, four rows. Eight separate drawers beats four wide ones for the same reason a drawer divider does — things stop being stacked on each other to be found. And at 35 inches the top is a real surface: a lamp, a tray, the things that otherwise end up on the floor.

Only 15.75 inches deep

Most dressers this wide stick far enough into a room to make you turn sideways getting past. This one does not, which is how eight drawers go into a bedroom that is already full — or along a hallway that still has to work as a hallway.

One continuous walnut, no handles anywhere

Veneer over MDF, the grain running across the whole face, and the fronts pulled from a recess so nothing breaks the surface except the seam between the two columns. It stays flat in Hawaii humidity, which a solid chest this wide would not. The trade is that a deep gouge cannot be sanded out.

Bedroom, hallway, or behind the sofa

At 172 lbs it is a two-person carry and then it stays where you put it. If the wall is narrow rather than wide, the Wailea Tall Chest is five drawers in the same veneer; the Wailea Nightstand and Vanity Set complete the set.
