Day to day: Dust with a dry cloth, or wipe with a barely damp one and dry straight away. Do not leave water standing on the top.

Heat and wet: Mats under hot dishes, coasters under cold glasses. A veneer top marks from a hot pan and rings from a sweating glass, and neither sands out the way it would on solid timber.

The fluting: Dust collects in the grooves. A dry paintbrush or a vacuum brush head clears it in seconds.

An oval means there is always room for one more

No corners and no legs at the ends, so a seventh chair is a decision you make at the last minute rather than a seating plan you commit to in advance. On an oval nobody is stuck at the head of the table and nobody is wedged into a corner.

The base is a reeded column, not four legs

Vertical fluting cut into a round pedestal — the detail that makes this read as joinery rather than flat-pack. It also leaves the floor under the table completely clear, so chairs slide in anywhere and a vacuum goes straight through instead of around.

Solid frame, veneer top, and that is deliberate

The structure is solid rubberwood. The 71-inch top is ash veneer, which is the honest way to keep a surface this wide flat in Hawaii humidity — a solid top this size moves with the seasons here, and a top that moves eventually cups. We would rather explain that than sell you a promise the climate breaks.

The biggest table we brought in

At 71 inches long it seats eight at a push and six in comfort. Measure before you commit: you want about three feet of clear floor on every side for chairs to pull out, which makes this a table for a room of roughly 12 by 10 feet or better.
