Eight drawers that barely leave the wall

Thirteen and three-quarter inches deep. Most dressers this size stick out far enough to make you turn sideways getting past. This one does not, which is how you put eight drawers into a bedroom that is already full, or along a hallway that still has to work as a hallway.

Two columns, four rows, no handles

The pulls are grooves cut into the drawer fronts, so the whole face is flat and unbroken. Eight separate drawers beats four big ones for the same reason a drawer divider does — things stop having to be stacked on top of each other to be found.

Solid rubberwood on a plinth base

Real wood, rounded corners, and a solid base that sits flat on the floor rather than perching on thin legs. It arrives assembled, so nothing structural depends on how well you tightened it. At 172 lbs it is a two-person carry — worth knowing before delivery day.

Bedroom, hallway, or behind the sofa

At 35.5 inches high the top is a usable surface rather than a shelf you cannot see — lamp, bowl, keys, the stuff that otherwise lives on the dining table. The Kahana Narrow Chest is the same design at half the width, for the wall that cannot take this one.
