The cushions: Vacuum with the upholstery head, left to right in short overlapping passes. Blot spills straight away, do not rub. Rotate and plump the cushions every couple of weeks so they wear evenly.

The wood: Dust with a dry cloth, or wipe with a barely damp one and dry immediately.

Avoid: Long direct sunlight, which fades fabric faster than it fades wood, and steam cleaners.

Most comfortable chairs are a solid block of upholstery. This one is an open wood frame with cushions dropped into it, so it reads light even when it is the biggest thing in the corner. In a small living room that difference is the whole argument.

Soft where you touch it, firm where it counts

The seat and back cushions are loose, so you can pull them out, plump them and put them back — which is the only reason a cushion stays looking new. The arms are slim flat rubberwood, warm to rest on and wide enough to park a mug on if you are careful.

The frame is the part that has to last

Solid rubberwood, jointed and left exposed, with angled rear legs that put the weight where it belongs. Nothing structural is hidden under fabric, which means nothing structural can quietly fail under fabric. If a cushion cover ever gives up, the chair has not.

Same frame, same cushion, knee height — sold separately so you are not paying for one if you do not want it. At 27.5 inches wide the chair fits a corner most armchairs cannot, and it is light enough to move when you need the floor back.
