The surface: Dust with a dry cloth, or wipe with a barely damp one and dry straight away. Do not leave water or cosmetics standing on a veneer top — blot spills as they happen.

The mirror: Spray glass cleaner onto the cloth, never onto the mirror. Liquid running into the frame will reach the LED wiring.

The sensor: If the light stops responding, wipe the sensor area — a film of hairspray or powder is usually the cause, not a fault.

Avoid: Abrasive pads, acetone-based nail products on the surface, and long direct sunlight.

There is no button and no cord to fish for behind the drawer. Pass your hand over the sensor and the mirror lights up; do it again to cycle three colour temperatures — warm for evening, neutral for getting the base right, cool for detail. Do it a third time and it is off. With wet hands, with a brush in the other hand, in the dark at 6am.

Two legs, not four, so your knees go where they like

The Puako stands on a pair of thick rounded slabs set well in from the ends. Nothing in the middle to straddle, nothing to bark a shin on, and a stool tucks all the way under. It also means the whole thing reads as a console rather than bedroom furniture once the mirror lid is down.

Rounded on every edge that matters

The top, the ends and the drawer front are all softly radiused rather than cut square. That is a finishing decision you feel rather than notice — nothing catches a sleeve, and nothing chips the first time a drawer gets closed with a hip. Under the veneer it is MDF, which is the honest answer: it will not move in Hawaii humidity the way a solid top would.

Only 15.75 inches deep

Shallower than most nightstands are wide, and 39.5 inches across — it fits the wall behind a bedroom door, a hallway, or the short end of a room you had written off. One drawer in the apron takes the everyday things; the lid lifts for the rest. Plan for an outlet within reach of the LED.
